How much does rock chip repair cost in Edmonton?
At Progress Glass, rock chip repair starts at $37.99. Most insurance providers in Alberta waive the deductible for chip repair, so the out-of-pocket cost is often zero. The repair takes about 30 minutes and restores the structural integrity of the windshield.
Can a cracked windshield be repaired, or does it need replacement?
Chips smaller than a Canadian quarter and cracks shorter than about six inches can usually be repaired. Cracks that reach the edge of the glass, are in the driver's direct line of sight, or have multiple branches typically require a full windshield replacement for safety.
Will my insurance cover windshield replacement?
If you carry comprehensive coverage on your auto policy in Alberta, windshield replacement is usually covered (subject to your deductible). Progress Glass directly bills most major insurers, so you don't pay anything out of pocket beyond the deductible.
How long does windshield replacement take?
A standard windshield replacement takes about 60–90 minutes, plus a safe-drive-away time of 1–2 hours while the urethane cures. For vehicles with ADAS (lane departure, automatic emergency braking, etc.), calibration adds extra time.
Do I need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
Yes. If your vehicle has any forward-facing cameras or sensors mounted to the windshield — lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, or a head-up display — they must be recalibrated whenever the windshield is replaced. Progress Glass performs ADAS calibration in-house.
Do Energy Star windows qualify for Alberta rebates?
Yes, many of the Energy Star-rated windows we install qualify for Alberta's energy efficiency rebate programs. We carry products eligible for the program and help homeowners with the paperwork.
What's the difference between double-pane and triple-pane windows?
Triple-pane windows add a third sheet of glass and an extra insulating gas-filled space, giving them better thermal performance, lower U-values, and better sound insulation compared to double-pane. For Alberta's cold winters, the upgrade often pays off in lower heating bills.
Do you offer emergency commercial board-up service?
Yes. If your storefront, office, or commercial property has had a break-in or accidental damage, we can usually board up the damaged area the same day to secure the building, then return to install permanent glass.
What areas around Edmonton do you service?
Progress Glass services Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Devon, Leduc, Beaumont, and the surrounding capital region. Our shop is at 5 Alberta Ave in Spruce Grove.
Why should I fix a windshield chip immediately?
Temperature swings — common in Alberta — cause the glass to expand and contract, which makes chips spread into long cracks. Once a chip becomes a crack longer than about six inches, repair is no longer possible and you'll need a full replacement, which costs many times more than a $37.99 chip repair.
